Film Fest Friday - Chad Vader

Today's Film Fest Friday features a somewaht recent Star Wars fan series called Chad Vader. Perhaps you've seen this before. Perhaps you haven't. Either way, here is the first episode of a very funny, very original series.

I'm incredibly busy right now, so that's all I have for the time being.
Until next time,

Making Dreams Come True

It finally happened. I went down to Disneyland for a job interview, and when I left, I had been presented with a role in attractions at the Disneyland Resort. In other words, I've been signed on to become a cast member!

And, obviously, I'm thrilled to pieces!

As of now, I'm scheduled to start May 31st. Stop by the park some time. You might run into me.

An Internship and a Film

So today I went down to Culver City to see about an internship I've been pursuing for a little while now, and I got it. Not that getting it was that hard. Apparently I was the only one seeking the work out. But at any rate, the editor and assistant editor liked the work I showed them, and if I want the job, I've got it when I get out of school next month!

Anyway, that's the good news. And here's more good news: Film Fest Friday. This week's feature is a short film called "Evol", which follows a man and a woman who live backwards lives in the real world, and end up falling in love.

Kinda fun, isn't it? And it certainly is quite a joy to watch. That is one film that was shot very well.

Okay, that's it for me. Until next time...

Film Fest Saturday - Rescue Dog

Sorry, guys. Film Fest Friday was late again. So to make up for it, here's an old Walt Disney cartoon featuring Pluto!

I'm really tired, so I think I'm going to go sleep.
'Bye everyone

Wrestling with Stupidity

I'm beat.

I spent the last three hours in the production center at school trying to import footage from a lecture I've been assigned to cut together. I only needed the footage from one tape. Capturing it should have taken just under an hour. But then I screwed things up trying to make them better and ended up staying much longer than I planned, importing and re-importing. It was pretty crazy.

But fortunately, everything is once again as it should be. I only hope I don't mess up again.

A Hoax and a PhotoBlog

Exactly one week ago, I posted photographs from an alleged u.f.o. sighting. Obviously, the u.f.o.s were bogus, and you all set about to figure out what they really were, nearly everyone thinking they were clouds of some sort. Well, guess what. These supposed spacecraft were not some strange natural phenomena (and my dad later pointed out that lenticular clouds usually only formed over mountains) but rather a hoax, and not even an elaborate one at that.
So based off of that information, we'll see if anyone can uncover the truth. Just reread the post carefully. Perhaps you might read something helpful.

Anyway, while you're doing that, here's a PhotoBlog to keep you occupied.

So I was coming out of the library at school and I liked the symmetry in this shot.

A while ago I took a shot similar to this but was displeased with it, so I reshot it here at school. I'm still not entirely satisfied, but this is a bit closer to what I want.

And here's a tall shot.

Finally, a premature dandelion.

This picture makes me happy. I shot it up in Joshua Tree two weekends ago. I zoomed in tight on the flower, and the sunset brought out all the excellent colors. My only regret is that the flower is incredibly soft (as in, not sharp) when the picture is looked at closely. But here you can't really tell.

I shot this just before the last one. Again, the flower is a bit soft, but since the frame isn't as tight it's not as significant.

This was an experiment of sorts. I wanted to have the closest flower sharp in the foreground with the other flowers a touch out of focus in the background, serving as a nice backdrop. The focus/out of focus effect worked well, although I don't quite like the composition. Oh well.

Once the sun set, I devoted much of my effort to photographing the night sky. Unfortunately, my effort was quite insufficient. The night sky is incredibly difficult to focus, particularly because it's practically impossible to tell if you're in focus or not. This was one of the better shots.

This was one of my last shots of the night. I accomplished this effect by setting up a long exposure time (20-30 seconds) and zooming over the course of the exposure. The result was something that looks remarkable like lightspeed, but is also very grainy.

Okay, that'll do it for me today. I'm crazy busy right now, with a ton of projects I'm working on. I'll try to keep you posted on those.

Over and out

Film Fest Friday - A Cowboy Needs a Horse

Happy Friday everyone. Take a break and enjoy this classic Disney cartoon from the 1950s. I first saw an abridged version of this short on a sing-along VHS I had when I was a kid. Since all the other songs were based off of actual (recognizable) animated films. As for this, I had no idea as to where it came from. Now, over a decade later, I finally know the truth.

But wait, there's more! Recently the new Mr. Potato Head audio-animatronic figure built for California Adventure's Toy Story Mania has been testing to guests. I happened across a couple videos and was so impressed I had to post them:

"And for my next trick..."

Wow! Fun stuff, huh? Can't wait until this attraction opens this summer!

Okay, that'll do it for me. See you all around!

Visitors Among Us

For years, mankind has pondered the existence of life existing outside the realm of our planet. He has elaborated upon these theories with stories and reports of sightings of unidentified flying objects, sometimes supplementing these sightings with pictures, or even video.
After hearing about these stories for years, I'm throwing in my two cents.

Recently, I was working in front of a nice big brightly-lit window when I saw something unusual in the sky. It was not moving, but rather floating in the air. As I looked around, I noticed a couple similar objects nearby. I happened to have my camera, so I snapped several photographs. Here are the results:

Here are the first two pictures cropped to show better detail of the "U.F.O.":

You're probably guessing this is a hoax of some sort, particularly with the date of this post being April 1st. But April 1st or not, this is indeed what I saw in the library window. These pictures have not been embellished or PhotoShopped, and no, that is not dust on my camera sensor. What you're seeing is what I actually saw myself. No lie.

Government aircraft? Weird cloud formation? Or is it something else? If anyone could shed some light on the subject, I'd appreciate it.
